COVID-19 relief has been provided to vulnerable communities in the rural Eastern Cape towns of Adelaide and Somerset East, delivering house-to-house.
Working in collaboration with the Department of Social Development, the Raymond Mhlaba and Blue Crane Route Municipalities, as well as the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and the Sarah Baartman District Municipality (in the case of Blue Crane), the food relief parcels were funded by Cookhouse Wind Farm.
“Our intervention is aimed at helping vulnerable families during the COVID-19 lockdown, being fully cognisant of high unemployment rates in the beneficiary towns. This situation was worsened by the lockdown regulations, which negatively impacted earning opportunities for many families,” said Nomzamo Landingwe, Chief Community Operations Officer for Cookhouse Wind Farm.
